In my role with KWMC Bristol, I was responsible for filming and editing for the film project “Made of Straw and Still Standing.” I focused on seamlessly blending the technical and creative aspects of video production, including archival footage from about 20 years ago. I strived to create an engaging film that genuinely resonates. I worked closely with the organizers to ensure my work aligned with their goals. The result was well-received, with KWMC staff and organisers appreciating the polished and impactful video I produced.
This conceptual/experimental film, built around the theme The Elemental Feminine, a play on The Divine Feminine, focused heavily on practical editing techniques such as match cuts, audio mixing, keyframes, dissolves, and overlays. Over five weeks, we developed the project through rough and fine cut screenings with professors. I collaborated closely with a team of three, supporting each other throughout the editing process. The film used archival footage and was awarded a Distinction in the MA Art of Editing unit at the University of Bristol.
Lead cinematographer for recreating an A24 film scene. This video required no audio as the primary focus was on cinematography aspects. I collaborated with a team on clapper boards, assisting in setting up with lighting while directing the actors and providing briefs. This was a valuable experience, as I had the opportunity to instruct, collaborate and make key decisions on the project. The assignment was awarded a distinction at the University of Bristol’s MA Art of Cinematography unit.
